German Shepherd Dog (Alsatian)

A multi purpose breed, apart from pets their more obvious uses are Guard Dogs, Police Dogs and Guide Dogs.

Loyal and protective these dogs can make ideal family pets but need to be socialised from puppies.

Coat: Hard straight outer coat with thick undercoat
Grooming: Hard brushing required to remove loose and dead hair
Average Height: 59-64 cms. 23-25 ins.
Average Weight: 34- 44 kgs. 75- 97 lbs.
Colour: Black or Grey with brown or lighter markings. Black or black saddle with tan, gold or light grey markings.
Temperament: Loyal & affectionate good with children
Exercise: Needs lots of long walks as they have limitless energy 
Average Lifespan: 12-13 yrs.

Possible disadvantages
Can show aggression towards strangers and oher dogs. Tends to shed hair and require frequent brushing.
