Choosing a Fox Terrier as your pet dog or puppy:--

General Description

Can be either Smooth or Wire Haired, pretty much the same dogs just different coats, Livel alert dogs that require little else apart from affection and exercise

Suitable Owners

Energetic experienced owner who is prepared to spend some time with these active, playful and curious dogs
Origins

Bred to chase foxes from their lairs during hunts and also to hunt and control vermin.

Coat:

 Either smooth or the slightly rougher wire haired
Grooming:

 Occasional brush and the wire haired dogs will need occasional clipping
Average Height:

 38-40 cm. 14-15 ins
Average Weight:

 7-8 kg. 15-18lbs.
Colour:

Mostly white usual with black and/or tan markings 
Temperament:

 Loyal but independent dog that bonds with owner and family. Intelligent and moderately easy to train. Lively and full of energy with an alert and curious nature. Good with children and household pets but can be wary and aggressive with strange dogs.
 Exercise:

 Likes lots of exercise, usually best to only let off leash in large open areas.Curious nature can make them pretty active at home.
Average Lifespan: 

13-14 yrs.
Possible Disadvantages

May be aggressive towards other unfamiliar dogs and may chase small animals
