General Description

Despite appearances the Toy Poodle is quite a rugged atheletic dog, highly intelligent and regards himself as a person and likes to be treated that way.
Suitable Owners

Active, friendly owner who doesn't mind exercising and grooming this fun loving dog.
Origins

Originally bred for sporting purposes, mainly retrieving especially in water.

 Thick, dense and curly coat
Grooming:

 Will need clipping every 2/3 months {more often for show dogs}. Brush occasionally, hardly sheds any hair.
Average Height:

 25-28 cms. 10-11 ins.

 6.5-7.5 kgs. 14-16 lbs.
Colour:

All solid colours (mostly black or white)
Temperament:

 Good natured, affectionate and dependable dogs full of spirit but responsive. Highly intelligent making the easy to train. great family pets, good with children and other animals
 Exercise:

 Medium exercise requirements but they love to play
Average Lifespan: 

14-15 yrs.
Possible Disadvantages

Coat clipping may be a problem for some owners and some care should be taken if around boisterous children
